The CRADA is expected to enhance Virtuix's defense market opportunities and support the adoption of its Virtual Terrain Walk (VTW) technology for military and first responder use cases. The NPS is recognized as a premier defense-focused academic institution, and its collaboration with Virtuix is anticipated to contribute to U.S. military readiness and operational effectiveness.
Jan Goetgeluk, Founder and CEO of Virtuix, expressed enthusiasm about the agreement, stating, "Following growing interest from the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine Corps, we are excited to see the U.S. Navy begin evaluating our Omni technology for training and simulation applications. We believe the agreement highlights the broader potential and adoption of our technology in defense. The insights from this collaboration will advance the development of Virtual Terrain Walk as we continue expanding our presence in the defense market."
The Virtual Terrain Walk system allows military personnel to familiarize themselves with environments that are typically restricted, such as submarines and ships, prior to deployment. This innovative technology incorporates AI-driven 3D reconstruction, transforming real-world environments captured with 360-degree cameras into high-fidelity, photorealistic 3D worlds. Users can physically walk, run, and crouch in any direction within these virtual environments, facilitating ground combat mission planning and rehearsals.
This agreement with the U.S. Navy is Virtuix's first formal research collaboration with a military branch, building on previous sales to the U.S. Army at West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Marine Corps. The partnership with NPS is expected to further solidify Virtuix's position in the defense sector and enhance its reputation as a leader in virtual reality technology for military applications.
