Ecolab Inc. has officially announced its agreement to acquire CoolIT Systems, a leader in advanced liquid cooling technology for AI data centers, for approximately $4.75 billion in cash. This strategic acquisition is expected to significantly enhance Ecolab's capabilities in the rapidly growing data center market, which is increasingly shifting towards liquid cooling solutions to meet rising computational demands. CoolIT is projected to generate around $550 million in sales over the next year, and the acquisition is anticipated to accelerate Ecolab's organic sales growth rate by 1% overall, with a 2% increase in its Global Water segment. The deal, which is set to close in the third quarter of 2026, is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Ecolab's CEO, Christophe Beck, emphasized the importance of this acquisition in positioning the company as a comprehensive cooling solutions provider, integrating CoolIT's technologies with Ecolab's expertise in water management and digital services. This move not only strengthens Ecolab's market position but also aligns with its commitment to sustainability and responsible growth in the technology sector.
